I heard a wonderful CD of Jewish lullabies on Errol Nazareth's music segment on Metro Morning back in Dec 2009. eMusic had it for download and I added it to my "Save For Later" list. As our due date approaches, I thought to look into the CD and label some more. It turns out that The Secret Mountain is a Quebec based label and they make a range of music and books for children.
As a first sampling of what they offered, I ordered Songs from the Garden of Eden from amazon.ca as a CD/book combo so we would have the lyrics and beautiful illustrations. From listening to a few of the tracks, there are definitely some that are fast-paced. Flick knew many of the tracks, and it's nice to have the wonderful pictures to accompany the words.
I'm now looking for Chinese lullaby music. I don't know if my parents ever played any for me as an infant. Secret Mountain also has Dream Songs Night Songs from China to Senegal, with Chinese track but that's given me a lead on a Chinese performer who has recorded a few CDs. From looking online, I found one disc simply titled Chinese Lullabies but a lot of the tracks sound over-produced and over-synthesized. Maybe I should look for traditional Chinese instrument music?
