Arboretum Outing

We started the day by walking over to City Feed and Supply, a fun, general store type of grocery and cafeteria. We breakfasted on English muffins with egg patties, iced coffee and granola with fruit:

The Arnold Arboretum was a short walk away, so we meandered over there next. The space was designed by the same guy who designed many other Boston-area parks, as well as Central Park in NYC. We walked along Willow Path, stopping many times to let Gabe investigate the gravel:

Naptime was a total failure: after heading back to the apartment, Gabe didn't want to sleep at all. We ended up driving around for a while until he fell asleep, stopping at a Cuban lunch spot. Somehow, our two sandwiches and smoothies took 45 minutes to be ready, but our baby slept peacefully in the parking lot. We went back to the Arboretum for another walk, stopping in the vine garden. This park is amazing for babies, as there's so much open safe green space to run around in.

For dinner, I had read that Canary Square is great for kids. They had an enclosed patio, with lots of high chairs, and at 17:30 in the evening, many families with small kids were enjoying a meal. While the food was mediocre, there were a lot of local brews on tap (I had the subtle Wachusett Blueberry Ale). Gabe was a lucky boy, as the wait staff brought him a little dish of peas, which he ate one by one.
