Months and months ago, Flick planned Gabriel's party at a local, city-run playground centre. We scheduled it several weeks after Gemma's predicted due date, outside of our house, so that logistics and planning would be kept to a minimum. At a local party store, Flick was able to pick up Thomas-themed
everything: party hats, noisemakers, tablecloth, whistle (!!!), etc. For food, we made cupcakes ourselves, bought drinks and fruit and vegetable trays from the supermarket, and ordered delivery pizza from Pizza Pizza (Pizzaiolo would not deliver to that area).
We were given an hour for the kids to romp around in the play area. There was a massive play structure with a ball pit, rope ladders to climb, slides and multiple levels to explore! For older kids, there were buildings to construct out of hard foam and a LEGO table.

After everyone was exhausted from playtime, we went to our own little room, where we had set out drinks, nibbles and dessert, and spread out the pizza. There was plenty of space for the children and the adults, each with their own tables.
