"Cookie's Week"

On Monday… Cookie fell in the toilet.
     There was water everywhere!
On Tuesday… Cookie knocked a plant off the windowsill.
     There was dirt everywhere!
On Wednesday… Cookie upset the trash can.
     There was garbage everywhere!
On Thursday… Cookie got stuck in a kitchen drawer.
     There were pots and pans and dishes everywhere!
On Friday… Cookie ran into the closet before the door closed.
     There were clothes everywhere!
On Saturday… Cookie climbed the curtains.
     And Cookie went everywhere!
Tomorrow is Sunday… 
     Maybe Cookie will rest!

"Machines at Work"

Do you think there's a market for children's audiobooks, read by children? Me neither. Here's another recording of Gabe reading a board book, "Machines at Work" by Byron Barton.

Hey, you guys!
Let's get to work.
Knock down that building.
Bulldoze that tree.
Dig up that road.
Dump the rubble.
Load that truck.
Now let's eat lunch.
Next, dig a hole.
Mix the cement.
Lift that beam.
Build that road.
Okay, stop the machines.
Let's go home.
More work tomorrow.

"Row, Row, Row Your Boat"

As many parents of older children keep reminding us, toddlers grow up so fast. A lot of things we find really cute are Gabriel singing or talking, which means videos are overkill. Sure, I could pluck out the audio track but the mics on our mobile phones are pretty crappy.

With that in mind, I purchased a Yeti Blue USB microphone from costco.ca last week. I heard about this product from Boing Boing a few months ago. Now, if our recordings aren't crystal clear and have a lot of ambient, background hiss, at least we'll look like professionals.

Here's our first track, recorded from the dining table while Gabe was looking out the living room window:

Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
If you see a crocodile
