Monitoring In a High Tech World

My cousin gave us her baby monitor that she used when she had her son. It's one of those walkie-talkie kind of monitors. But I was thinking the other day: wouldn't it be awesome to be able to see and hear the baby from our smartphones? Flick has an iPhone 3GS and I have a Nexus One so we both have the capability to receive streaming audio and video.

I've come across the following solutions so far:

Manu. Model Res Mic Night Wireless App Cost
Y-cam Y-cam Knight S 640x480 Yes 30 IR LEDs, 12-15m range Ethernet, 802.11g Yes (Android and iOS) $229 US at Amazon.com
ImogenStudio The Bambino640x480 Yes 9 IR LEDs Proprietary wireless using USB dongle, Windows only Yes (Android and iOS) by subscription $89 at Amazon.com
ImogenStudio The Kerby 640x480 No Yes 802.11g Yes (Android and iOS) by subscription $89 at Amazon.com
Foscam FI8918W 640x480 Yes 11 IR LEDs, 8m range 802.11g 3rd party iOS and Android $86.68 US at Amazon.com

I like what I've been reading about Foscam's customer support and responsive to user suggestions. However, a big drawback of the Foscam camera is that it only streams audio in WMA. A reply from their customer service on 2011-03-06 said they were working on supporting non-Windows platforms soon, but this is the same message they have given since October 2010.

There's also a brand new baby monitor camera that even has a humidity and temperature sensor. It's the Withings Smart BabyMonitor but it's not available until the end of March September 2011 so there's no specs or reviews on it yet.

Just found WiFi Baby 3G. Looks like Y-cam is marketing one of their cameras as a baby monitor.
