Hypnosis for Childbirth, Part 3

We watched brief videos of births (hospital and home) where hypnosis was being used. In each video, the women talked about how hypnosis really helped them relax. The women seemed very quiet. Sarah could not really imagine herself that quiet and/or chilled out but it was interesting to see.

We did the "ice water exercise" three times.  The first time, we were supposed to put our hand in ice water for a minute and not use any of our relaxation or hypnosis techniques. Eric cheated. Sarah followed directions and found her hand got very, very cold. It was unpleasant. The second time around, we used our hypnosis techniques and we all found that time seemed to go by much faster. It was still cold, but less unpleasant. The third time was harder than the second, but easier than the first... We later learned that Shawn had us on ice for 90 seconds... This hypnosis stuff seems to really work!

We concluded our session with "a Book of Life exercise."  We were supposed to let go of our worries and anxieties and "rewrite" those pages... Sarah was so relaxed that she had a little snooze during this final meditation! But luckily, Shawn sent her the tape so she could follow up at home!
