We went to
Macklems to look at strollers today. It's a pretty small store, packed with strollers (both the SUV kind and the umbrella kind) and car seats and other assorted baby stuff. There were a few
Dutailer gliders on the floor as well.
Their staff seemed knowledgeable and can help you decide between two or more models. Unlike some reviews I read, I didn't find anyone there who didn't know what they were talking about. They seemed helpful (as helpful as anyone can be if they have to repeat the feature list of a stroller every 15 minutes).
We're leaning towards the
UppaBaby Vista 2010.

Pros:
- Comes with a bassinet and rain/sun/bug shield
- Tires are big, made of some kind of rubber composite (no air to pump)
- Stands up when folded so you don't have to pick it up off a slushy parking lot
- Brake is operated with one stepping motion (other strollers require you to flip the brake upwards to disengage, potentially awkward and painful when wearing sandals)
- Giant storage basket underneath
- Peekaboo window to keep an eye on the baby
- Seat can be mounted front- or rear-facing
- Has adapters for major car seats (so you can take a sleeping baby out of the car and right into the stroller)
Cons:
UppaBaby hasn't changed anything in their 2011 models, just fabric choices. So Macklems is knocking a bit off the price to clear out their old inventory.
P.S. There's lots of parking at the Loblaws plaza nearby. Do not eat at the Asian noodle place nearby, blech.
P.P.S We did buy it. We got a $100 off!
Love the fun and informative blog, guys!
ReplyDeleteWe have this stroller and love it. No real complaints. Just lots of smooth sailin' (or rollin').
Keep up the great blogging and healthy baby brewing.
Regards from us 3 here in MTL.
